Colorado Cycling Ban - SIGN Petition

Thursday, December 1st, 2005 @ 3:05 PM - news

Independent Pass, Colorado

The Colorado State Patrol is planning on banning all group rides of 2,500 or more participants. Bicycle Colorado needs your help to keep epic rides like Elephant Rock, Triple Bypass, Mt Evans Hill Climb, Iron Horse Classic and more alive.

Not only would this hamper large group rides, but it would also affect the charities they fund.

All you need to do is take a minute of your time and sign an online petition. Let your voice be heard!

Hi everyone,

Those of you who know me probably know that I rarely (if ever) send out mass emails asking for support on a cause. However - this one is legitimate, and is really happening now. Many of you are fellow cyclists, or have friends or family like me who you tolerate because we love to ride our bikes in organized events - one of the reasons we all live in CO.

The CO State Patrol is planning on banning all group rides of 2,500 or more participants for "safety reasons." This essentially means the immediate loss of every large charity bike ride we all look forward to each year. Elephant Rock, Triple Bypass & more. The option to reduce that number below 2,500 is held open by the State Patrol, so it could also impact smaller events like the MS150, Tri for the Cure, Susan G. Komen rides, etc.

The link below to Bicycle Colorado has the graphic details. If you are interested in helping, please take 1 minute to sign the petition on their site.

Please forward to anyone else you think would be interested in helping out.

Thanks for your support.

Jonathan
